Railway Infrastructures are built with utilization of quite a high number of different system components, which needs to be installed, connected, integrated and commissioned to a functional Railway System. Earth Work and Structures, Track Work, Power Supply, Signalling and Telecommunication facilities are only some, but the main components, which have to be handled in any regards. Due to the harsh desert conditions the Middle East Region is a very ambitious area to implement Railway Infrastructures like Heavy Haul, High Speed or Light Rail Metro Systems.
Since 2007 I have had the occassion to earn vast experience as Project Manager for installation and implementation of several Railway Infrastructures, starting with a 573 km long Heavy Haul Project midway through the desert, from a mining to an industrial area. Next Project was to install a fully automated and computerized, driverless People Mover System implemented into the all new built Princess Noura University for Women. Both Projects have been completed under very hot weather conditions (including frequent sandstorms etc.) and in accordance to the AREMA recommendations and UIC / European Norms. Furthermore, value of both Railway Projects were more than 1 Billion SAR (each).
